(1/31/12) Note: From a site visitor - "I wanted to add and correct listing # 16, Lewis cemetery on the Fulton web site. I've been there several times and am descended from these Lewises. People are often confused by the entries, as the stones are broken and hard to match correctly. So as to have accurate information for future descendants, here is the correct information. Almina Lewis, who was Almina WELLS, dau. of John Wells, is correct as dying Nov. 26, 1829. However, her husband William G. Lewis (my 2nd. greatgrandfather) did NOT die on the same date, Nov. 26, 1829. He remarried in 1830 and moved to Wisconsin in 1836 where he died in 1874." Barbara Rogers

NOTE
The following information is from site visitor, Karen Griffin.
I'm a descendant of the William Lewis buried here and have more details:
William Lewis was a son of Johannes/John Lewis and Annatje/Nancy Hendrickson and married, 10 March 1791, Schenectady, Francyntje/Frances Gunsolus. William was buried on his farm in the Town of Perth, and Frances, who died 29 March 1846, was buried in Prattsburg, Steuben, NY. Four of their sons, John, Joseph, Grandus and Sebastian, moved to Prattsburg. Their son Jacob and their daughter Sarah Balis lived in Oneida Co. Their daughter Matilda Van Vranken lived in Broadalbin, their daughter Hannah Putman lived in Cayuga Co., and their son William Henry lived in Sauk Co., WI. William was a brother to Jacob and Gradus Lewis, who are buried in the Lewis Cemetery, and a brother to Magdalene Gunsolus, who is buried in the Gunsolus Cemetery. His wife Frances was a sister to the wife of Gradus Lewis, Engeltje/Angelica Gunsolus, and a sister to Sebastian Gunsolus, husband of Magdalene Lewis. They were the children of Johannes/John Gunsolus and Machtelt/Matilda Heemstraat.

Meech, David d: July 17, 1798; age 54yr; "Expiring nature shirks with fear, And shudders at the thought of death. Yet millions who have traveled here, Have found a sweet release from earth."
There is one additional, the early Moir Cemetery on McQueen Road which suffered the sad fate of nobody ever recording the hand-chilseled names before some kids busted up all the black schale stones around 1958. It was known as a pauper/Indian/indigent burial plot. That one may have held 20 + or - but all one can read now is the date of 1806 on the bottom of one stone.
