This cemetery transcript was obtained and typed by volunteer Jill Collins. She writes: I am researching the ancestry and descendants of the following lines: Henry King & his wife Martha Sweet who were early inhabitants of the town of Northampton; Willard Stowell & his wife Alida Vedder of Oppenheim; Albert Gifford & wife Lucy Blowers. Also searching for the missing parents of Harriet J. Gifford b. Jan. 22, 1854 who was the wife of Marcus A. King of Northville.
The following was taken from Black Heritage in Fulton County, by Mrs. Audrey Laird and Mrs. Audrey Bowman, 1990:
"This old cemetery is located on the north side of the North Bush Road, across from the present site of the North Bush Methodist Church. It's situated on a high knoll surrounded with a fence, and has recently gone through a cemetery restoration project of aligning, straightening and repairing a number of its stones. This cemetery holds the remains of many of the area's early pioneers and settlers. It holds a number of unmarked graves, some with fieldstones, some with nothing. Its section on its eastern slope traditionally is believed to hold the remains of a number of early black residents with unmarked graves. There are no known records in existence of these old burials. A new cemetery was laid out across the road and on the south side of the Church Site, with the building of the Church (in 1898), further grave sites were laid out and now the church handles the cemetery and records its burials. It has organized a group in the church and have mapped and laid out new lots..."
