The following was abstracted from the pension file WC (WIDOWS CLAIM) #11971 BOX #31483 BIN # 36, NATIONAL ARCHIVES, WASHINGTON, D.C.:
CORDELIA HARE was married to HENRY ALLEN on NOV 28, 1853 by REV. A. W. GARVAN at the FONDA METHODIST CHURCH.
HARMON H. PUTNAM (served as a private in CO. A 153 REGT NYS VOLS.) and CATHERINE A. PUTNAM, JACOB P. MILLER and HENRY EACKER attended the wedding. The PUTNAM'S are also buried in SECTION 8 just around the corner from the ALLENS.
LYDIA ALLEN and JENNET MILLER were present when FRANCES was born.
CORDELIA first applied for a Widows pension on Dec. 2, 1862 and on or about APRIL 9, 1863 hired NELSON B. RANDALL of GLOVERSVILLE as her attorney. The pension was finally granted on Jan 12, 1864 at $8.00 per month retroactive to OCT 16, 1862. In JULY of 1867, she received an additional $2.00 per month for FRANCES until her 16th birthday in 1871. According to the file she was last paid in OCT 1899 at $12.00 (per month).
